The World's DIY Solar Mini-Splits

Most mini-splits run on grid power around the clock. Airspool runs on sunlight first, so whether you're cooling down in July or heating up in January, you're barely touching your electric bill on the days it matters most. And unlike traditional mini-splits, you don't need an HVAC installer to get there — most customers are up and running in an afternoon.

Install Your Airspool in 3 Simple Connections

We do the hard stuff at our US headquarters. You do the fun stuff at home. Just twist, plug, and click.

1

Twist to Connect Your Lines

Your refrigerant lines come pre-charged with the exact amount of refrigerant. No vacuum pump, no gauges, no torque wrench. Just line them up and twist until they click. Done in about 60 seconds.

Patent-pending self-sealing valves can be disconnected and reconnected if you ever move.

Snap in Your Solar

When you're ready for solar, the MC4 connectors snap together like LEGOs. No electrician, no wiring, no tools. Panels to unit in about 30 seconds. Solar is optional, and your unit works on grid power from day one.

DC isolator included so you can safely disconnect solar for storms or maintenance.

Plug into Power

Your unit comes with a pre-installed, UL-approved power cord. Just plug it into a standard outlet: 120V for 12K models, 220/240V for larger units. That's your grid backup and your whole electrical installation.

No breaker work. No electrician. No permits in most areas.

Total connection time: about 5 minutes. Total tools required: zero.

We pre-install the electrical cord, communication cable, and solar whips at our US headquarters. We even test your unit on solar, grid, and hybrid power before shipping, so we know it works. That's why we can offer a 5-year functionality guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Airspool?

Airspool makes solar/hybrid mini-split air conditioners and heaters. They run on solar power, grid power, or both automatically. When the sun is out, your unit runs on solar. When it is cloudy or nighttime, it automatically switches to grid power. You do not manage it. It just works.

How does solar air conditioning work?

Solar panels produce DC electricity. Airspool's motors run natively on DC. So the power flows directly from panels to the unit with no inverter, no batteries, and no conversion losses. When you need more power than the panels produce, grid power fills in automatically. It is the simplest way to use solar energy in your home.

Can I really install this myself?

Yes, even with zero HVAC experience. Our Quick ’n’ EasyTM system uses pre-charged, twist-to-connect refrigerant lines. No vacuum pump, no gauges, and no specialized tools. You just need a drill. We include everything else: hole saw, drill bits, level, gloves, and all hardware. Most people finish in 2-5 hours.

Do I need solar panels to use Airspool?

No. Every Airspool unit works perfectly on grid power alone right out of the box. You can add solar panels whenever you are ready, whether that is a day, a month, or a year later. Many customers start on grid and add solar when the timing is right.

Do I need batteries or an inverter?

No. Because Airspool's motors run directly on DC power from the solar panels, there is no inverter or battery needed. The grid acts as your backup when the sun is not shining.

How much does a complete system cost?

A complete Airspool system with solar panels typically runs $2,500-$4,500 all-in, depending on the model. That includes the unit, installation kit, and everything you need except a drill and solar panels. Budget around $400-$1,650 for panels depending on the unit size.

Does Airspool heat AND cool?

Every Airspool mini-split model heats and cools year-round. Our SuperHeat models (HS12, HS24) even heat down to -22°F. The only exception is the WS12 window unit, which is cooling only.

What size space can Airspool cover?

Our 12,000 BTU units cover around 500 sq ft, which is ideal for a bedroom, garage, or workshop. Our 24,000 BTU units cover around 1,000 sq ft, which is ideal for an open living area, large shop, or guest house. Our multi-head systems cover multiple rooms, up to 1,500 sq ft across three zones.

What guarantee do I get?

Every Airspool purchase includes two guarantees: a 365-day Buy and Try money-back guarantee where you can return for any reason and we cover return shipping, and a 5-year functionality guarantee covering parts and labor with no fine print.

How much will I save on my electricity bill?

That depends on your climate and electricity rates, but Airspool customers typically see 50-80% reduction in cooling-related electricity costs during sunny months. Many run their units for under $50 per year. Air conditioning is 50-70% of most summer electricity bills, and with solar, you are targeting that biggest expense directly.

How many solar panels do I need?

For 12,000 BTU units, plan on about 1,500 watts, which is roughly 3-4 panels. For 24,000 BTU units, plan on about 3,000-3,300 watts, which is roughly 6-8 panels. For the 36,000 BTU MU36, plan on about 4,500 watts. Panels can go on the ground, a patio, or a shed roof. They do not need to be on your house roof.

Which Airspool model is right for me?

Here is the quick guide:

  • Normal space, mild winters: MS12 (12K BTU, 120V, around 500 sq ft)
  • Normal space, harsh winters: HS12 SuperHeat (12K BTU, 120V 20-amp, heats to -22°F)
  • Larger space, mild winters: MS24 (24K BTU, 220/240V, around 1,000 sq ft)
  • Larger space, harsh winters: HS24 SuperHeat (24K BTU, 220/240V, heats to -22°F)
  • Two rooms, one outdoor unit: MU24 (24K BTU, 2 zones)
  • Three rooms, one outdoor unit: MU36 (36K BTU, 3 zones)
  • Renter or no installation: WS12 Window Unit (12K BTU, cooling only)
