Solar mini split questions, answered straight.

What is a solar mini split, exactly?

A regular mini split that also accepts DC power straight from solar panels. Its inverter compressor blends solar and grid power automatically — sun when it's available, grid for the rest — with no batteries, no separate inverter, and nothing to switch over. Here's the full explanation.

How many solar panels does it need?

About 1,500 watts — roughly four ordinary residential panels — runs a 12,000 BTU unit well. Bigger units scale from there, and every Airspool ships with the solar wire, DC isolator, and pre-connected whips to hook them up. Why 1,500 watts.

What happens at night or on cloudy days?

The unit draws whatever the panels can't supply from the grid, automatically and instantly. You never lose cooling or heating — you just buy fewer kilowatt-hours whenever the sun is out.

Can I install one myself?

That's the design goal: truly pre-charged twist-to-connect line sets, pre-wired cords, and the tools in the box — you supply a drill. See what a DIY install really involves, and bring in a licensed electrician if your install needs a new dedicated circuit.

Which model should I start with?

One room up to ~750 sq ft: the MS12. Serious winter cold: a SuperHeat. Several rooms on one outdoor unit: a Multi-Head. Renting, or want zero wall work: the WS12 window unit. The comparison table above puts them side by side, or call and we'll tell you straight.

Still deciding? That's what we're here for.

Take 365 days to be sure — full refund, we pay return shipping. Every unit is backed for five years, parts and labor.
