Meet the Airspool HS12 "SuperHeat"

The HS12 isn't just a mini-split — it's cold-climate comfort, redefined.

While most heat pumps tap out when temperatures drop below freezing, the HS12 keeps pushing thanks to Enhanced Vapor Injection (EVI) technology. That means reliable, efficient heating all the way down to -22°F — without backup heaters, without space heaters, without worrying.

It's the same Quick ’n’ EasyTM system our customers love: solar-first hybrid power, a 5-minute connection, and the industry's best guarantee. But now, engineered for the harshest winters on the planet.

If you live where it actually gets cold, this is your unit.

Configuration 1 Zone
Heats and cools around 500 Sq Ft 12,000 BTU
Cooling up to 131°F Outdoor temperature
Heating down to -22°F Outdoor temperature

Operating Modes

Grid Power Only mode

Grid Power Only

To heat to such low temperatures, the HS12 uses a specialized power plug called a Nema 5-20R (20 amp, 120v). It looks like a standard three-prong plug except one of the prongs is on its side.

Solar Power Only mode

Solar Power Only

Going off grid? We recommend 1500 watts of solar panels to enjoy year-round comfort, wherever you live.

Hybrid Grid and Solar mode

Hybrid Grid/Solar

Your HS12 seamlessly blends grid and solar power so you never lose comfort. Solar is prioritized, and grid power automatically fills in as needed.

What is EVI SuperHeat?

Most heat pumps lose efficiency — and eventually stop working — when outside temperatures drop below freezing. That's because standard compressors struggle to extract heat from extremely cold air.

EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) solves this. It adds a secondary injection cycle to the compressor that supercharges its ability to extract warmth from frigid air — even at -22°F.

The result? Consistent, powerful heating performance in conditions that would shut down a standard unit.

No backup heater needed. No space heaters. No worrying about whether your system can handle a cold snap.

Just reliable warmth, powered by the sun and backed by the best guarantee in the industry.

Bottom line: The HS12 is the MS12's cold-weather big brother. Same easy install. Same solar/hybrid system. Same incredible guarantee. Just way more heat, way colder.

The Quick ’n’ EasyTM System

The Secret That Will Save You Hours and $$$

Installing a mini-split system typically requires a vacuum pump, gauge set, specialized wrenches, adapters, correct-sized screwdrivers, wire cutters/strippers, and potentially extra refrigerant. Plus, know-how, patience and time.

But not with Airspool.

We do all of that work and pre-install our patent-pending Quick ’n’ EasyTM valves at our US headquarters. So when your unit shows up at your doorstep, you just twist the connections!

We'll Customize Your Line Set Length!

With most mini-splits, you get what you get as far as line set length.

But not with Airspool.

Because we customize everything in-house, you have the option to customize the length of your lineset. All the way to 49 ft!

And, since we test all aspects (e.g. solar, grid, and a combination of both) before shipping, we know it's going to work for you. Because of this, you get an unprecedented 5-year functionality guarantee.

2 Ways to Control Your Airspool

Imagine coming home to the perfect temperature in your room, no matter what season. With our Apple/Android app, you can control your air conditioning and heat directly from your phone from anywhere in the world. Or program the times you want and forget about it.

But if you're like us and like to have some physical buttons to press, you'll appreciate the remote included with your unit.

Do It Yourself (Really!)

The Airspool Quick ’n’ EasyTM system is about to make your life much easier.

Imagine installing a full HVAC system by yourself, with no previous experience, and doing it in a few hours!

This is your reality with Airspool.

Step 1. Place the outdoor unit

Set the outdoor unit on a stable surface with room for airflow. Double-check the final location before moving forward.

Step 2. Drill hole

Mark your wall path and drill the pass-through opening for the line set. Keep the angle slightly downward to support drainage.

Step 3. Mount your indoor unit

Secure the wall bracket and hang the indoor unit in place. Make sure it is level and fully seated on the bracket.

Step 4. Twist to connect your line set

Route the precharged lines and connect them by hand as instructed. Tighten to spec and confirm each connection is fully seated.

Step 5. Mount your isolator and plug in your solar (optional)

Install the isolator in an accessible location near your outdoor setup. Connect solar input if desired, or continue with grid power only.

Step 6. Turn it on and enjoy!

Power the system, run startup checks, and set your comfort mode. You are now ready for efficient heating and cooling.

How can we be so confident you can install this yourself, even with zero experience?

Because we give you:

  • an industry-best installation manual full of full color photos and written in native English!
  • dozens of installation videos which make it even easier
  • and unlimited phone support if you get stuck!

Customers often ask...

How long will it take to install my HS12?
Most first-time installers complete the full job in 2-4 hours. The Quick ’n’ EasyTM connections themselves take about 5 minutes. The rest of the time is spent mounting the wall bracket, drilling a pass-through hole, and routing the line set. If you've done it before, you can have a unit up and running in under an hour.
What tools do I need at home to install an HS12?
Just a drill — that's it. We include the hole saw, drill bits, screwdriver bit, level, and all the hardware you need. No vacuum pump, no gauges, no torque wrench. Just your drill and about 2-4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions about HS12

How loud is the HS12?

The indoor unit operates at library-level quiet and most people forget it is running. The outdoor unit is comparable to a normal conversation. The variable-speed compressor ramps smoothly and avoids jarring on/off cycling.

How much space does the HS12 cover?

About 500 sq ft, which is ideal for a large bedroom, living room, studio, garage, workshop, or ADU. Need to cover around 1,000 sq ft in a cold climate? Check out the HS24 SuperHeat.

What is EVI SuperHeat and can it really heat at -22°F?

Yes. EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) adds a secondary injection cycle to the compressor that supercharges its ability to extract warmth from extremely cold air. Standard heat pumps lose efficiency and eventually stop working below freezing, but the HS12 keeps heating all the way down to -22°F. No backup heater needed.

How is the HS12 different from the MS12?

Same unit with two key upgrades: EVI SuperHeat technology that heats down to -22°F instead of the MS12’s 5°F, and a 20-amp outlet requirement (NEMA 5-20R) instead of the MS12’s standard 15-amp outlet. Everything else, including Quick ’n’ EasyTM connection, solar capability, cooling performance, 12,000 BTU rating, and the guarantee, is effectively the same. If you live in a mild-to-moderate climate, the MS12 is a great value. If your winters are serious, the HS12 is the one.

What kind of electrical outlet does the HS12 need?

A 120V, 20-amp outlet (NEMA 5-20R). This looks almost identical to a standard outlet but has a T-shaped slot on one side. Many homes already have these in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages. If you are not sure, check the outlet or have an electrician swap one in quickly and inexpensively.

Do I need solar panels right now or can I get them later?

No. The HS12 works perfectly on grid power alone. Add solar panels whenever you are ready. Many customers start on grid and add solar later to reduce their electricity costs.

How many solar panels do I need for the HS12?

About 1,500 watts, which is usually 3-4 standard panels. Budget around $400-$600 for panels plus mounting hardware. A little under is fine because grid power fills in automatically.

How long does the HS12 take to install?

Most first-timers finish in 2-4 hours. The Quick ’n’ EasyTM twist connections take about 5 minutes. The rest is mounting the wall bracket, drilling the pass-through hole, and routing the line set.

What tools do I need?

Just a drill. We include a hole saw, drill bits, screwdriver bit, level, gloves, and all mounting hardware. No vacuum pump, no gauges, and no torque wrench.

What happens if I have too much or too little solar power?

No worries either way. Too little solar means grid power fills in automatically. Too much means the excess voltage simply goes unused without causing any problems. The system is designed to be flexible.

Can the HS12 cool in summer too?

Absolutely. The HS12 cools in temperatures up to 131°F, identical cooling performance to the MS12. It is a full heat pump: heating and cooling, year-round, in one unit. The SuperHeat upgrade only affects how cold it can heat.

Will the HS12 work during a power outage?

If the sun is shining, yes. Solar panels continue powering the unit. At night during an outage, you would need battery backup or a generator.

What maintenance does the HS12 need?

Clean the indoor air filter quarterly by rinsing it under water, shaking it dry, and replacing it. Vacuum the indoor coil and spray the outdoor coil annually. That is it.

Can I move the HS12 after installation?

Yes. The Quick ’n’ EasyTM self-sealing valves unscrew and reconnect without losing refrigerant. About 5 minutes each way. No HVAC tech needed.

What's included with my HS12?

Indoor and outdoor units, pre-charged 10-ft twist-to-connect copper line set, 120V 20-amp power cord, communication wire, wall bracket, remote control, condensate hose, and our free Quick ’n’ EasyTM Bonus Kit (solar whips, DC isolator, solar wire, hole saw, drill bits, level, gloves, and more). Everything except a drill and solar panels.

How much does shipping cost for the HS12?

Shipping is highly discounted worldwide and shown at checkout before you purchase. You will receive 3 boxes: outdoor unit (around 95 lbs), indoor unit (around 27 lbs), and solar isolator (around 2 lbs).
