01The big idea

Solar air conditioning, without the science project.

Most “solar AC” setups need batteries, an inverter, and net metering — you end up spending as much on the system around the air conditioner as on the air conditioner itself.

The HS24 skips all of it. Its DC motors run on the same power solar panels make, so panels plug straight into the unit. Sun out? It runs on solar first. Sun fades? Grid power fills in automatically. You switch nothing, manage nothing — and it works on day one with zero panels.

What you don't need

Batteries
Inverter
Net metering
Vacuum pump & gauges
Panels plug straight in. That's the whole system.
−22°F still heating, no backup heat
24,000 BTU heating & cooling
1,000 sq ft coverage, one zone
11.0 HSPF2 heating efficiency

02How it works

Three ways to power it. Zero switches to flip.

01

Grid only Works on day one

Connect to a 220/240V outlet and enjoy high-efficiency heating and cooling for larger spaces. No solar required — ever, if you choose.

02

Solar only Fully off-grid

Going off grid? We recommend around 3,000 watts of panels (6–8 standard panels) for year-round comfort in larger spaces.

03

Hybrid Sunshine first, automatically

The HS24 seamlessly blends grid and solar power. Solar is prioritized; grid fills in as needed. You never touch a switch.

Too little solar? Grid fills in automatically. Too much? No harm done. You never touch a switch.

03Do it yourself (really)

One drill. One afternoon. Six steps.

Most first-timers finish in 2–4 hours. The refrigerant connection itself takes about 5 minutes — by hand.

  1. 01

    Place the outdoor unit

Set it on a stable surface with room for airflow. The HS24 outdoor unit is larger than the 12k models, so allow adequate clearance.

  2. 02

    Drill one hole

The included hole saw makes the pass-through for the line set. Angle slightly downward for drainage.

  3. 03

    Mount the indoor unit

Secure the wall bracket, hang the unit, check it is level.

  4. 04

    Twist to connect

Route the flexible kink-proof lines and connect them by hand. About 5 minutes — no vacuum pump, no gauges.

  5. 05

    Plug in solar (optional)

Mount the isolator and click the solar connectors together — or skip this and run on grid.

  6. 06

    Turn it on

Power up, set your comfort mode, done — even at −22°F.

Can someone who has never touched HVAC connect a mini-split in under 5 minutes? Timed, on camera.

— Verified buyer, verified customer

You won't be left alone with a manual. Although it is an industry-best manual — full-color photos, written in plain English — you also get dozens of install videos and unlimited phone support if you get stuck.

04The honest question

“Will the twist-connect actually seal?”

What goes wrong with normal DIY mini-splits

Refrigerant leaks from badly-made flare connections. Skipped vacuum steps. Moisture trapped in the lines. Installing a typical mini-split takes a vacuum pump, gauge set, specialized wrenches, adapters, wire cutters — plus the know-how, patience, and time to use them right. Get one step wrong and the system leaks.

Why the HS24 sidesteps all of it

We do that work at our US headquarters. The refrigerant lines arrive pre-charged and sealed with our patent-pending Quick ’n’ EasyTM self-sealing twist valves. No flaring, no vacuum, no moisture risk. You twist the connections by hand — the whole hook-up takes about 5 minutes. They even unscrew and reconnect later without losing refrigerant, if you ever move the unit.

Every single unit is tested on solar, grid, and hybrid power before it leaves our building. That's why we can back it for five years — DIY install included.

  1. Simply the best

    Customer April 2026 Verified buyer

Let's start with customer service. Had a problem (self inflicted). The company answered phone with real person( the owner) listened to my issue and got me to tech where they handled my issue with patience and professionalism. Had me up in running within minutes of identifying I wired wrong at my panel. Even taught me how to read meter. Can't say enough about these guys. The product is running on AC and is flawless. Tomorrow I'm adding solar and it's good to know if I botch it up this crew is in my corner.

  2. Great product, best service

    JHI February 2026 Verified buyer

I was skeptical after buying from another online company who refuses to back the product they sell. I called these guys for a simple issue I had, they walked me right through it, no problem. They know the product they sell and care about customer relations. Not just another sale. I highly recommend both product and Airspool as a company. I also am a contractor, I’ve seen a lot of these mini spits from big companies, and they don’t come close to the service you get with these guys nor the simplicity on the install! No tech needed, just a few simple steps, and it’s off and running.

07The running cost

What it costs to run. Honestly.

50–80% lower cooling-related electricity costs during sunny months — what Airspool customers typically report

Air conditioning is 50–70% of most summer electricity bills. Solar targets that biggest expense directly.

Some customers report running costs under $50 a year — yours depends on sun, climate, and electricity rates.

The EVI compressor also heats more efficiently: 11.0 HSPF2 vs the MS24's 10.0 — more heat per watt, even when it is not brutally cold outside.

Run your own numbers: is solar air conditioning worth it?

08Straight talk

Is the HS24 right for you?

We'd rather point you at the right unit than sell you the wrong one.

Right for you if…

  • Winters that drop below 5°F — the HS24 keeps heating down to −22°F with no backup heater
  • 220/240V 20-amp power available (plug or whip-and-disconnect, your choice)
  • You want solar now, later, or just the option
  • You can drill one hole in a wall

Not right for you if…

Airspool exists because we decided the hard part of a mini-split install — the refrigerant work — belonged in our shop, not on your wall. Every unit is customized and tested on solar, grid, and hybrid power at our US headquarters before it ships. If you have a question before or after you buy, call or text (725) 699-1200 — you'll get the same people who build and test these units, not a call center.

14Everything else

Questions, answered straight.

How loud is the HS24?

The indoor unit operates at a whisper-quiet level comparable to a library. The outdoor unit is slightly louder than the 12K models because of the larger compressor, but still comparable to a normal conversation.

How much space does the HS24 cover?

About 1,000 sq ft, which is ideal for an open-concept living area, large workshop, garage, guest house, or ADU. If you only need around 500 sq ft in a cold climate, the HS12 is usually the better value.

What is EVI SuperHeat and can it really heat at -22°F?

Yes. EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) adds a secondary injection cycle to the compressor that lets it extract warmth from extremely cold air when standard heat pumps have given up. The HS24 keeps heating reliably all the way down to -22°F with no backup heater needed.

How does the HS24 compare to all the other Airspool models?

MS12 is a 12K mild-climate unit on 120V. HS12 is the 12K cold-climate version that heats to -22°F on 120V 20-amp power. MS24 is the 24K mild-climate option on 220/240V. HS24 is the 24K cold-climate option that heats to -22°F on 220/240V. MU24 and MU36 are multi-head systems for 2-3 rooms from one outdoor unit, and WS12 is the window unit. All Quick ’n’ EasyTM models share the same 5-minute connection, solar/hybrid capability, and 5-year guarantee.

What kind of electrical outlet does the HS24 need?

220/240V, 20-amp power, which is the same type of power used for clothes dryers and ovens. Most homes already have it available. You can specify a plug or direct wire when you order. It works on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz for international use.

Do I need solar panels right now or can I get them later?

No. The HS24 works perfectly on grid power alone. Add solar whenever you are ready. Many customers start on grid and add solar later.

How many solar panels do I need for the HS24?

About 3,000 watts, which is usually 6-8 standard panels. Budget around $1,300 for panels plus mounting hardware. The solar input range is 150-380V. A little over is fine because grid power fills in automatically.

What kind of line set does the HS24 use?

The HS24 uses a flexible, kink-proof line set instead of rigid copper. It bends, routes around corners, and threads through tight spaces without kinking. It is 16 ft, pre-charged, and twist-to-connect. Need more? We can customize it up to 49 ft.

Why does the HS24 have better heating efficiency than the MS24?

The EVI compressor is inherently more efficient at extracting heat. The HS24 delivers 11.0 HSPF2 heating efficiency, which is meaningfully higher than the MS24’s 10.0 HSPF2. You get more heat per watt, even when it is not brutally cold outside.

How long does the HS24 take to install?

Most first-timers finish in 2-4 hours. The Quick ’n’ EasyTM connections take about 5 minutes. The flexible kink-proof line set makes routing easier than rigid copper.

What tools do I need?

Just a drill. We include a hole saw, drill bits, screwdriver bit, level, gloves, and all hardware. No vacuum pump, no gauges, and no torque wrench.

What happens if I have too much or too little solar power?

No problem either way. Too little solar means grid power fills in. Too much solar means the excess goes unused without any issues. The system adjusts seamlessly.

Can I move the HS24 after installation?

Yes. The Quick ’n’ EasyTM self-sealing valves unscrew and reconnect without losing refrigerant. It takes about 5 minutes to disconnect and another 5 minutes to reconnect.

What maintenance does the HS24 need?

Clean the indoor air filter quarterly. Vacuum the indoor coil and spray the outdoor coil with a garden hose annually. That is it.

What's included with my HS24?

Indoor and outdoor units (24K BTU), pre-charged 16-ft kink-proof twist-to-connect line set, 220/240V power cord, 23-ft communication wire, wall bracket, remote control, condensate hose, and the free Quick ’n’ EasyTM Bonus Kit. Everything except a drill and solar panels.

How much does shipping cost for the HS24?

Shipping is highly discounted worldwide and shown at checkout before you purchase. You will receive 3 boxes: outdoor unit (around 130 lbs), indoor unit (around 35 lbs), and solar isolator (around 2 lbs).
