We waited long enough!
Moving off grid to the Arizona southeast desert was a big shock to our systems. Our first summer without any real power yet established was brutal. Although the power system we installed could handle most normal appliances, it just didn't have enough oomph to run air conditioning in our 1300 square foot doublewide. We've managed these last few years by doing some common sense heat mitigation techniques. Even still, when summer temps creep over 100 degrees, inside temps creep into the mid to upper 80s. We've been researching DC mini-split technology for awhile now and decided to pull the trigger with the Airspool MS-12 Quick and Easy. The kit included everything we needed except the solar panels which we purchased from an area supplier. All total, setting up and installing the units took less than half a day. The instructions were easy to follow and didn't require any in-depth electrical or plumbing knowledge. Looking forward to how it will handle those 100+ degree summer days.

Air spool units are amazing
We purchased three Of the quick and easy units for our home here in Vermont, and by myself, it took me about 30 minutes to set it up after the initial wiring was done and the hole was cut through the wall. They run silently and draw very little power, I have mine hooked up to solar right now directly and it’s excellent just one unit reduced our temperature in our 1st floor by 5° in less than 30 minutes and we own a 2000 square-foot house. And as far as dehumidification goes, they are excellent. I think it removed a quart of water in an hour out of our house. I can’t wait to try the heating part of it out for this winter as our Bills here in Vermont are on the uprise, these units will definitely save myself and my family a ton of money. So far I couldn’t be happier. I will probably buy a couple of them more of them for family members In the area. And for the quick and easy units that I bought the instructions and materials that came with each unit are Spot on and make the whole process so much easier. Super easy to install and use (especially using the custom phone app).
I did a lot of research on mini-split options/products ranging from standard sub "Pro-install" no-name $600 to $1,800+ "DIY" options (e.g., MrCool, EG4). Short of trying to install the former (a cheapo $600 system) myself--which would have required $100s in tools I'll never use again and countless hours of YouTube watching, trial and error--everything ended up more expensive than the M12 system I bought from Airspool. (I was quoted over $4,000 by a "Pro" HVAC company to install a system if I supplied it--with electrical I'd already run to the location.)
I don't (yet) have any solar, but I like having that option in the future--which essentially came "for free" with Airspool. Installing even the few (3-4) solar panels to run my Airspool is a project (and budget) itself--and it may not be easy to justify, given how very little my system seems to be pulling from the grid right now. But I definitely like having that feel-good option in the future.
Installation was a breeze--given all the extras supplied by Airspool, e.g., tape, drill bits, and concrete saw--which I needed to get through my stucco exterior. Dave (the owner and person in the videos) walked me through everything I needed to make the decision to buy and to get the installation done myself. All in, the installation process--moving the units, unpacking, installing the wall mount, sawing the wall hole, setting up the outdoor unit--took about 6 hours over the course of a weekend, with about 15 minutes of help from one other person.
I love the custom (iPhone) app, which enables me to control the system (including scheduling it's use) remotely from any anywhere--in or out of my house. It's also nice to know exactly how much energy I'm using...which for my home office in a very temperate climate is practically none, at least for now.
I happen to like DIY projects--including this one--and I hate throwing many thousands of dollars to 'professionals' who add no value other than saving time. If you're like me, I strongly recommend buying and installing an Airspool product.

4 years, zero issues!
I have installed over a dozen Airspool units in the last 4 plus years. Zero call backs, zero issues, highly recommend. Seems possible to find cheaper units now, but I will not stray from these guys. Always someone knowledgeable to talk with when needed, always excellent customer service, worth every penny. The first two units I put on my home over 4 years ago have been running nonstop summer and winter here in Arizona, with no trouble. Just keep the filters and coils clean and enjoy !

Simply the best
Let's start with customer service. Had a problem (self inflicted). The company answered phone with real person( the owner) listened to my issue and got me to tech where they handled my issue with patience and professionalism. Had me up in running within minutes of identifying I wired wrong at my panel. Even taught me how to read meter. Can't say enough about these guys. The product is running on AC and is flawless. Tomorrow I'm adding solar and it's good to know if I botch it up this crew is in my corner.

Straight forward installation and it works!
The panels seem to be of good quality and the installation was simple enough. Screwing into the roof shingles is nerve racking to say the least, but I made sure to screw into the rafters as much as possible. The customer service was on point as well! Even responded during the weekend. Thank you, Airspool!

Amazing products. I have a 1 ton window until and a 2 ton mini split.These devices sip electricity. I can already see at least a 30% in my electric bills. I have not turned on my 3 ton central air unit since installing these 2 units in the middle of May. I will can't wait to see what they do during the coming summer heat in June, July and August. these 2 devices do everything they said it would do. There advertisements and promises are 100% accurate. I took a leap of faith buying from Airspool, but EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS TRUE, I have confirmed this. One thing they understate is how little energy they they use. it really makes me think the electric companies are in bed with the major HVAC companies.

Delivery was fast. I live on the Texas coastline hot and humid. The unit runs at 50% and very comfortable at night it runs at 25% and still comfortable by morning. Very happy with it. I plan on getting a split unit next, and then another window unit. Keep my house cool without a high electric bill.

Another great experience installing an Airspool Minisplit
This was the 3rd Airspool that I installed, I'm getting faster at it. The completeness of what's in the kit always amazes me. Everything is included and no trips to Home Depot were needed. This is the first 24K unit I installed and the line set run was much longer (28') than my other units. The flex hoses in the line set made this super easy to snake under a low deck. I replaced an 18K unit with this Airspool 24K unit. I was a little concerned that the 24K unit was too large for the space (around 1K sqft poorly insulated). But its working great.

Couldn’t be happier
Very easy to install. The instruction manual that Dave the owner of Airspool wrote covered every detail of the install. It’s written in plain easy to read and understand English. It even has color picture's showing how to do everything. The owner genuinely cares about his customers and his product. The best part though is connecting the solar panels. Oh my gosh having ice cold AC cooling my living and dining room while the plug is laying on the ground is incredibly. I plugged it into my killawatt for kicks and for when the sunsets. It was only pulling 2.8 watts. I’ll be buying two more units soon as I can afford them. One for my garage and another for the master bedroom. Thank you Dave for everything! Installing it was a rewarding and enjoyable experience!

Purchase was a breeze, the unit came in 3 packages one of them was the solar disconnect.
All contents were accounted for, Airspool has an exhaustive list of packing contents and who was responsible for checking the list.
Install was straight forward no issues. I'm not considered a serious diyer, my skills are very basic. I installed the head in a basement for heating only, I keep it set at 65. Probably a little undersized as app stats it 62 in the basement. At 65 the most the unit pulls is 800 watts and as low as 300 watts continuous. Running on ac hope to solar connect soon. Head is very quiet.

I was skeptical after buying from another online company who refuses to back the product they sell. I called these guys for a simple issue I had, they walked me right through it, no problem. They know the product they sell and care about customer relations. Not just another sale. I highly recommend both product and Airspool as a company. We are pleased with our Airspool MS12 & the ability to run it on solar was why we chose Airspool. As stated it was Quick & Easy DIY with everything you need just add solar panels. Keeps my Phoenix garage cool
I’ve had the Airspool installed in my garage for a little over a year. I live near Phoenix so the temps in my garage during the summer have in the past exceeded 105 degrees routinely. The Airspool, in combination with adding insulation to my garage, has been a game changer. Average temp in my garage from June thru August this summer, one of the hottest on record, was 80 degrees with day time temps around 77-78. I run the Airspool on Solar during the day and do not normally run it at night unless there’s a project going on out there. We have a large freezer out there and it works much less hard with the cooler garage. My wife loves to go out and get in her cool car in the morning. And of course it makes the garage nice for doing various projects that I like to do.
I highly recommend the Airspool.

Day one Game Changer
Today I got the unit installed and running and holy cow. I live in a 40' camper RV that doesn't have great insolation. When it's 80⁰ out it's 85⁰ inside with the AC on and reflective material in all the windows and in the shade. But I'm minutes this new unit had it from 75⁰ to 65⁰. It's quiet and works fast. I'm so impressed and so glad I got it. I can't wait to get my solar pannels in to run it that way.

Freaking Magic!
The install went very well, was a lot easier than I had expected. I had already set up solar so could just focus on mounting the inside unit, routing the lines and wires through the outside wall, making the connections, and powering it up. It was late afternoon when I was ready to power it up, and even though solar was way off angle, and I had less than the recommended solar panels (about 1200 watts vs 1500 watts recommended) it powered up and worked from only solar. Then I connected AC power and cranked it for a while, oh that is so nice! Its often over 90F in my off grid desert house when I go to bed, I'm usually sweating most of the night. The first night was an improvement, but the next day I was able to run it all day off of just solar, so that evening was almost cold at 75F, when I'm used to 90F. And since its running direct from a seperate solar array, its not putting a big hit on my main PV solar battery system. I love this new tech! The outside unit is really quiet, I don't notice it unless I'm outside, and even then its really not a factor. Very happy! Thanks for all the online videos, and the nicely written instructions. I'm typically just leaving it to run in power save mode all day, at level 1 (of 3) in power save, so it uses practically none of my battery power while the sun is shining. I see it switch into solar only mode about 8am and it stays there until after 6pm. Since the house is cooled already in the afternoon, its not a big hit on the battery system after that. Hmm what else, the line connections I found to be really easy to tighten by hand, the included gloves worked well, good grip, nice touch. The drill bit for going through the wall is a beast! Everything being included was much appreciated. Thank you very much!

Summer Garage Game Changer
After 2 summers with this unit in my garage, I could not be happier with my Airspool. As I live in Las Vegas my garage was almost unusable in the summer months. Now that the temperature is controlled, I am able to tinker around on my bikes all year long.

So I say, give it a 5 star rating, it has been producing off grid. Outstanding sales and support experience
I just ordered my second Airspool mini split. After placing the order I was informed that a newer version would be available and was given the opportunity to elect to wait for the new version or receive immediate delivery of the until I ordered. I opted to wait and pay the difference. I would have been disappointed if I had received the original unit only to discover the new version a month later.

Beyond Awesome
We have the HS12 temporarily installed with impressive results. Since every step has matched the ease of install seen in Airspool and YouTuber videos we're convinced the addiction of solar panels will knock the purchase out of the park as one of the very best decisions we've ever had the privilege to make. Let me state clearly for the overlooking crowd, AIRSPOOL (HS12 specifically) IS THE ONLY DIY NO-BRAINER solution.
Our install adds efficiency to an aging (2006) ducted Carrier 2-ton seer-13 heatpump system that needs aux-heat below 30-degrees. Although a 1-ton Airspool cannot replace a need for a whole house system, it does handle the kitchen/living open concept portion of our home. Although the rest of the house lags behind the temp in the living space, our Nest thermostat cycles the Carrier’s airhandler fan on for 30-minutes per hour moving some of the Airspool's conditioned air to the bedrooms and bathrooms. So far, we only need to top off the sleeping temp with the Carrier for ~30-minutes to condition the bedroom for perfect sleeping temps. Airspool's app reports 77kwh over the first 9-days of operation @ ~$0.11 per kwh that's about a $Dollar a Day fully running on the grid. 90% of that should be saved once we get some solar panels in place.

Excellent and easy installation just like the last time but installed in my 1958 aluminum trailer. Standard RV Ac units will not be able to compete with the versatility of these solar mini splits. They heat, cool, and dehumidify the trailer more efficiently without the very loud decibles of traditional rooftop RV AC units. My Airspool keeps my trailer at such am amazingly consistent temperature, something that never really worked in this intense Las Vegas sun. My only gripe is the putty provided for the 2.5 hole fill is hard and unmalleable. I ended up using butyl tape as a substitute since it’s made for outdoor usage and is used on trailers the last for decades in the elements. Looking forward to your outdoor rooftop options.

We could not be happier, loving our free solar heat/ac all day-light long.
We bought our first AirSpool in Sept 2025 and loved it so much that we bought our second one in May of 2026. Not only are they easy to self-install via the installation booklet, web and videos but the customer support is outstanding. The fact that you get everything save the solar panels needed to install this saves hours and hours of research and time. They give you the gloves, the drill bits and etc. Everything is so thought out in the self instillation kit. We have a 1998 square ft. home and have gotten our electric usage down to about 400 – 500 kwh a month due to the free heat/AC all day-light long. We only use it on solar most of the time. Last winter we did plug it in at night. So being able to use it in hybrid mode is very nice. We are amazed at how well it performs. We get full solar usage earlier in the mornings on cloudy days, which is unexpected. We think it’s because there is so much reflection bouncing off of the clouds. So if you think it works on solar only when the sun is shining, that’s not necessarily the case. We cannot recommend AirSpool and David VanZanten enough. Thanks so much.

So far so good.
My home HVAC has resistive heating coils to heat the house during the winter. This is a very expensive type of heating system. My heating costs were higher than my summer cooling costs. Normal KWh use without heat is 10~15KWh per day. Using the resistive heating, my use went to well over 45KWh per day. Heating with the Airspool Mini-Split, my electric use is less than 1/3rd the cost of the large HVAC unit. Now that I have my solar panels set up, my commercial power use will drop even more. I hope to see similar results come summer here in Florida. Installation of the unit itself was easy. The most difficult part was that I had some shelves that were next to permanently mounted on the wall where I needed to put the mini-split head unit. It took many more hours to get those out of the way, compared to the 30 minutes to hang the head unit. Setting up the outside unit was even quicker, and yes, using the included gloves, the Freon connections can easily be fully connected by hand, no tools needed. The only question is how long will the unit last? That I can't answer, but with how well it works right now, I hope I have many many years with it. It's also extremely quiet. At first, I thought there's no way this is going to output enough air to heat or cool my homes living area. That's totally wrong. The volume of air is more than enough to not need a high speed noisy fan. The unit looks great and works great. One of the best buys I've ever made for my home, and being on solar is just that much better.

This unit is whisper quite inside and outside units. Runs great off my 3 410watt panels on my roof. Install was very straightforward and truly DIY with all supplied parts. Love taking advantage to cool/heat my space off the sun, which helps tremendously in a 100% electric house.

I started the install about 9:30 this morning and have it running around 4 pm.
No problem at any point of the installation.
I had to get an accurate location for the run down a 5" wide strip of building along a set of sliders on a 4 season glass room. All good and cleaned up. Done

I’m very happy with these units. The install on the first unit took about 30 minutes including drilling the holes and installing the bracket on the wall. The second unit took about 15 minutes from start to finish and they both worked flawlessly. The install couldn’t be simpler.
The actual hook up of the tubing took less than the advertised 5 minutes. As a builder I’ll be recommending these to my clients for a great solution to get AC/heat into room additions or hot areas of their homes.
I’ll definitely be purchasing more Airspool units.

We purchased our first airspool in sept. of 2025 and loved it so much we bought another one. The company returns your calls if you need help or have questions. They are easy to install as a diy project, this alone saves you hundreds and is one of the reasons we bought it. We got tired of dealing with shady ac repair techs trying to rip us off. Best DIY heat pump out there!
I was this close to buying a Mr Cool heat pump to get it before the federal tax credit ran out. It certainly seemed easier to install than most heat pumps out there, but it still looked harder than what I wanted to handle. I wanted a heat pump that had a prewired 120V plug so I could just plug into a regular outlet, and that led me to find Airspool, I'm so happy I did. Not only do they pre-install a 120V plug, but they also revolutionized the ease of connecting the line set and communication cables. I probably could have handled these on the Mr. Cool but it would have been a hassle and there were all sorts of ways I could screw it up. With Airspool is was dead simple to just screw them in by hand. When they say quick and easy they really mean it!
For my order I asked if they could ship it with the flexible line set that they normally use for the bigger HS24 and they agreed. This made it even easier to install as threading the line set behind my gutter and around the corner of my house was a one man job that took seconds and didn't require careful bending of a hard copper line set always hoping not to crimp it. We'll see how durable this flexible line set is in the long run, but if it holds up it is clearly easier to handle than hard copper and should become the default. Heck, if they could make the connecter stub that you have to carefully bend out of the back of the indoor mini split out of this too it would be even easier, as bending that out was really the only hard part of the install.
The only other issue with the install was that after I had routed the line set from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit the two ends were not aligned. One was sticking about 8 inches further out than the other. I'm not sure if this was because the lines were cut after they had been coiled (and thus the only on the outside of the coil was a bit longer) or if it had been somehow pulled back as I maneuvered the line set around. Either way the fix was simple, just cut a few of the zip ties holding the lines together and allow the longer line to droop a bit to even them out.
The fact that you can unscrew the line set is also amazing. I avoided drilling through my wall entirely by simply opening a window 6 inches then cutting a piece of foamboard to fill that gap and cutting holes for the line set, wire and drain through that board. This made install even easier and if I ever move I can literally take the system with me without leaving a huge hole an exterior wall. It'd be amazing if Airspool someday made a window mount that held the indoor and outdoor units securely with a foam block that can be trimmed to size, but maybe that's a dream too far. All I can say is that I was also waiting for the Gradient and Midea window units for years and they just haven't hit the market widely and have so so reviews and high prices where they have. Okay that's probably way too much info for most people, and I didn't even talk about how the solar input lets this enable balcony solar in states where it isn't legal, but I digress. I hope you found it useful!

The ac came fast. However I needed to run a 20 amp service and this took some time. I am 73 and will not just string romex under my house. I had to run conduit first. Other situations delayed this . After the circuit was in the installation was a snap. I already had solar in place. Air spool sent everything else and it took hours to get it done. Now I get my dining and kitchen air conditioned free all day even if it is a little cloudy. This is great.

Amazing Technology / Amazing Mini Split!!
So far, I have bought two of these units from Airspool. I got one for my Master bedroom that is a pretty large bedroom. I live in Arizona where the temps get in the "one hundred and teens" constantly in the summer months. I have each one connected to 4 panels of 455 watt each in my back yard. Both Airspools BLAST out the COLD air like crazy!! I easily adjust the temperatures, turn on and off the units and a LOT of other stuff, via the app on my phone or tablet that works GREAT and FAST! In the HEAT of the summer, my bedroom is like a meat locker it's so cold! I love it that cold. During the night, it can take power from the grid using a standard 120 volt plug. I have mine connected a little differently. My mini splits are plugged into an Ecoflow Delta Pro each with two external batteries. This means that during the day, the mini split pulls ZERO watts from the Delta Pro and that allows it to charge using solar to 100%. As soon as the sun starts going down, the Airspool will start pulling from the Delta Pro. The Airspool will prioritize solar first, so as the sun comes up in the morning, it starts gradually pulling from solar. When the sun starts going down it starts pulling from the grid. It's really a brilliant system. The way "I" have mine set up, it gives me FREE col air and I'm not paying ONE PENNY for electricity to power my mini split units. GREAT units and I HIGHLY recommend!!!

Super easy install!
I took extra time to plan where the hole needed to be drilled, but other than that the install went much quicker than I thought it would. It took me about a half hour, being careful sine it was my first time installing it. I had installed an EG4 hybrid solar mini split several weeks ago, this was MUCH faster and easier. I was surprised to see that the indoor and outdoor units were exactly the same between Airspool and EG4. The difference is how Airspool packages their system. Airspool includes everything you need in the box, pre-wired the control wire, included solar cables and isolation box, and the charged lines are already attached to the outdoor unit and the valves are already open so you don’t need to touch them. The quick connectors on the line set were easy to thread on and hand tighten. I liked that it came with an appliance cord already installed, I just had to plug it into an outdoor outlet and it was up and running. Airspool has simplified installing a mini split almost to the level of installing a window air conditioner. Highly recommended!

I was a little concerned at first at my ability to assemble this. I am an avid DIY-er and I can say with confidence that I stared at the box for a few days before finally opening it to get started. They are not kidding when they say literally five minutes to assemble (actual mounting and everything else might take a little longer) but it really was as easy as mount, uncoil, connect, and plug in.
I already tested the unit and my solar panels haven't arrived yet, but this unit is awesome. Much easier than I expected and the instructions they provided were perfect.

Great option for our yurts/cabins builds.
We were looking for a quick easy way to provide AC/heating for remote cabins and tried out the MS12. for cabins/yurts that did not have power run directly to it, we were able to quickly just move forward with providing cooling to the space without being hindered by the scheduling of the power cabling. The unit provides sufficient cooling during sunny days which is when it is needed the most. this also runs without batteries, which also avoid scheduling limitation when batteries and other power storage/inverter is not available at same schedule. This basically allows us to get the a/c in to keep everyone comfortable. Will definitely, have this in our new builds going forward.

Game changing temperature control with Solar AC
Living in the southern AZ desert with an abundance of sun year round, using a solar heat pump is a no-brainer. We heat the house for a few months in the coolest part of winter and cool the house for a large part of the year withou paying a cent for electricity. Our energy bills have dropped enormously since investing in the first Airspool. With three more now installed in different locations around the property (garage, detached office, and 2 sides of the house), we almost never use the (expensive) central air system in our house anymore and can spend time in the garage working where it was previously unbearable. I'm not a particularlarly handy person and the install was still very easy. The hardest parts were drilling a big hole through the wall, setting a level surface for the condenser (use gravel and a condenser platform), and getting the air handler attached to the bracket (have a 2nd person help you ideally).
Overall the unit performs perfectly fine, and is super quiet. I use it to cool a single small office so 12000 BTU is probably overkill, but it cools down the room in less than 5 minutes. I'm getting power from a non-dedicated circuit outdoor outlet and the AC hasn't tripped any breakers, which was a nice surprise as I fully expected needing to get a dedicated circuit installed.

Used this unit all winter to warm up my off-grid cabin worked like a champ! Now here we are summertime with HOT HUMID temperatures here in the north and the unit as become my best friend!

I've been thinking about installing a solar mini split for 2 years. The only one I was aware of was the one by a company from Texas. After getting high PG&E bills I decided to finally do it. A week before I was about to place my order I saw a video on YouTube about Airspool version. I thought wow another company. And it looks well thought out and includes things that doesn't come with their competitors unit such as the 2.5 inch stucco bit, solar cables and many more. The only thing I needed was the 2.5 inch bit for drywall and OSB board. The directions were the best part. Super clear and complete with visuals. No detail was spared. Much thought was put into the design of this DIY unit. And to my surprise, the unit has built it wifi with an IP address that sits on the cloud so that you can control this unit even when away from home. I was even able to setup a daily schedule to turn on and off while the sun is out. Amazing. I have not used my HVAC since I installed it.
My only mistake installing was that I hit a stud while drilling the 2.5 inch hole 6 inches away from the bracket. My bad. I only looked for a stud where the center bit goes. I shouldve accounted for the entire 2.5 inches.

I installed my second Airspool 12K unit last week, obviously I was satisfied with the first. The installation went smoothly and the unit is working as expected.
I selected Airspool for the following reasons:
(1) Their products are well designed with high quality components and are very easy to install. Even the extra items, hole saw, 30 meters of 10 gauge wire, gloves, etc are high quality. The hole saw is multipurpose, masonry, saw that easily cut through my stucco wall.
(2)Their warranty is easily the best available for any DIY mini split.
(3) Customer service is exceptional. I’ve called, texted and emailed them several times over the past six months, they respond quickly and are knowledgeable. When you call, one off the owners answers, usually Dave. Last fall I had a problem with a leaking valve, they sent a technician with a new valve. I had to replace the original one I ordered after kinking the copper lineset. Dave reassured me and made it right by swapping it out for a brand new unit. Thanks Airspool.
I bought the 12k Hybrid Quick ’n’ EasyTM Mini split and had quite the journey of hooking it up. Put the unit in my garage near the ceiling and it was hard to lift and put all the lines through the wall solo at 9 feet high. Eventually I got the indoor unit installed then went outside to connect the lineset to the outdoor unit. Got that hooked up after a little trouble due to the fact that the indoor lineset stub coming through the wall barely protruded out the hole to the exterior brick wall. It was difficult to bend the copper stub lineset down. After connecting these and plugging in the communication cable and power cord I eagerly went inside the garage to test the coolness of the air coming out from the indoor unit. Here is where I made the first mistake of using a a temperature probe. My arm got tired from holding for over a minute and I accidentally pushed the probe too far into the unit. The metal probe hit the fan blower wheel while it was spinning causing a small portion of the wheel’s plastic spokes to break. They fell to the floor but the unit was still working and operating as normal. I blew a sigh of relief and emailed Dave VanZanten, the owner of Airspool. Much to my surprise he responded right away (within 30 minutes). He even sent me a troubleshooting video if I wanted to attempt to fix and a new infrared thermometer free of charge. The indoor unit remained fully operational so I just let it be and counted my blessings.
A few days later I made the decision that I wanted to move the outdoor unit to a new location and mount it to a brick wall that was further away from my home’s central ac unit. After emailing Dave he quickly reassured me that you can indeed move the unit as long as you give it 15-30 minutes of power down time. So I then proceeded to disconnect the lines. Here is when disaster struck. I had to bend the lineset/stubb coming through the wall in a different direction in order to mount the exterior unit in a new location. Trying not to kink this stubb, I still accidentally managed to bend one of the copper lines too far. The result was a leak/kink that let all of the refrigerant out slowly over a few minutes.
I panicked and emailed Dave again late on Easter Sunday. He again responded quickly and professionally. After explaining my mistakes and situation he came up with a plan to send back these units (indoor and outdoor) as long as I could pay for shippping. He even made a new SKU for those like me with thicker interior walls who needed a longer interior lineset stubb. I was able to purchase this new add on and some additional feet of exterior lineset to make the job easier for the new units. Dave sent me a new exterior and interior unit with precharged lineset and prepaid labels to send the old units back. He said he just wanted me to be happy with my purchase even after I totally screwed everything up. I thought I would have to repurchase the entire system at the higher after tariff price but no Dave saved the day. Thank you Dave and Airspool for the quick communication, transparency, and for taking great care of an idiot like me. I definitely recommend getting someone to help you lift and move these units, especially when trying to mount the outdoor unit up in the air on the wall.

Saving me a ton of $$$ on my electricity bill
We needed more cooling in an upstairs bedroom, since we were running our main air conditioner hard all day to keep it cool. With the Airspool hybrid mini split, we save in 2 ways. First, it runs on 3 solar panels for free all day and good efficiency using grid power at night. Second, our main unit now is set to 77 degrees instead of 73 before, and we're actually more comfortable downstairs, too. I recommend Airspool for an easy way to go solar, especially in California where the net metering laws have changed.

Utility Hack: How Solar Tech Should Work
Unlike traditional whole home/grid tied solar, airspool allows solar to work the way it should regarding the value and benefit it provides.
Traditional grid tied roof top solar requires lengthy permits and unless the home was recently built, more often than not a roof replacement/repair and main electrical panel upgrades are required. Airspool does not tie to the grid and avoid these problems. My home needed both a roof and main panel upgrade in order to go traditional rooftop solar so, Airspool allowed me to work around those hurdles and still greatly benefit from solar technology.
The best way to utilize solar technology is to have off grid applications like the Airspool system. That way, you can heat and cool your home while completely bypassing the utility’s expensive and ever increasing prices. I can not say enough about this product and every time I have it on, I smile knowing that it’s saving me a tremendous amount in utility expenses from the very greedy electric utility company. With their ever changing rules on time of use pricing and rapidly growing prices, do yourself a favor and invest in “guilt free” cooling and heating as I like to refer to it.

Great unit especially if you have a large space and time of day billing
I highly recommend Airspool. I installed mine almost 2 year ago and it has made a tremendous difference to both our comfort and energy bill. My house is just under 5000 sq ft and had 4 central air units, with one unit covering the master bedroom suite, including closests, hallways and a bathroom. We installed our Airspool to directly cool our bed rather than wasting money cooling the entire area while we sleep. We are also on a time of use billing plan from NV energy which charges punitive rates for electricity use during the hottest months. Airspools solar allow us to avoid these rates, running the unit on free sunlight. I would definitely purchase again.

I love my mini split!
I got it for the master bedroom because the central air and heat never work well in that room. Now I have the temperature programmed to my liking and I can make adjustment easily (and even remotely). The solar works well - my electric bill is noticeably lower!!

Airspool installed a year ago, and I still love it.
Just over a year ago I bought my Airspool, and it has been used much of the year. We live in sunny Las Vegas, so we used our Airspool in the winter to keep the area a comfortable 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It's now April 2024, and have been running it at 68 degrees turbo all day since it's in the 80's, already.
With the Airspool, my life is more comfortable, and I love it so much. I feel good about using solar panels because I work on being environmentally friendly, and appreciate how much it saves on my summer electric bill.

I've been waiting for what seems like 15 years for this tech to mature and come to market in a feasible and legitate product.
If you can drill a hole in your wall, you can install this. I have the tools to do the HVAC tech "required" install, but for the price, this is a no brainer. I had a block wall, old slump block, which required a $45 diamond bit drill, but unless you have this type of block, EVERYTHING is included. Even the whole saw included would probably cut through concrete, just not through my block - it had literal granite in it.
There are competitors on the market. I won't mention them, but you likely are very familiar with them. After reading just a handful of reviews from the other guys, it was an easy call.
In fact, the owner of Airspool, replied to my email, on a weekend, within an hour. I did not expect that, and I even told him to wait until Monday to reply (been a small business owner, so I know what it's like) but he responded to my emails within hours (probably minutes actually.)
I'm only a week or so it, and living in Phoenix, i've got it turned all the way down, but it got too cold (only May.) I'm realistic about my expectations for cooling, so with that in mind, assuming this lasts as long as the warranty would suggest, I expect to be very happy.
Don't hesitate, do it, pull the (metaphorical) trigger!

12,000 BTU unit in Michigan
I installed a 12,000 BTU Airspool unit in a 500 square foot office space in Michigan. It was space that I recently renovated that was using electric wall heaters that were super inefficient.
The install was very easy. The directions had the kind of detail that you want as a DIYer who isn't installing HVAC systems every day. I did install an AC disconnect for the power, but I know these units can be plugged into a normal outlet as well. The unit came precharged with refrigerant, so once I vacuumed out the line sets, I opened the valve that releases the refrigerant and was ready to go! The videos and step by steps online are no joke, it's very easy to install these minisplits.
I think my favorite part about these Airspools is the app. The app allows you to control the head unit from anywhere, which is great for me because my office is outside of my house, so I can turn on the unit when I plan on working out there. The app also allows you to monitor the energy usage of unit, which is a nice feature for anyone who is conscious about their energy costs.
As far as the units performance, I am amazed at how little energy it uses in both heating and cooling functions. With the cold Michigan winters, I am really happy with how the Airspool holds up. And of course, it is great at cooling in the summer too!
I have not yet installed the solar panels to help realize the full potential of this product, but look forward to the savings when I do.
I would definitely recommend these minisplits for anyone looking to comfortably condition a space and save money while they do it.
